Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a signal indicator?

No. Goldilocks does not generate buy or sell signals, entries, exits, or targets. It identifies key levels, detects structural setups, and scores confluence. All trading decisions are made entirely by the user.

Which markets does it support?

Goldilocks is built exclusively for gold futures — GC (full-size) and MGC (micro). It will not load on other instruments.

What timeframes should I use?

Goldilocks is designed for intraday timeframes. Features like the opening range, session levels, and Fibonacci retracements are built around minute-based charts. The higher timeframe level reference defaults to 60-minute but is configurable.

What are the C1, C2, and C3 labels?

These represent a three-stage setup detection system. C1 marks a displacement candle that creates a Fair Value Gap. C2 marks when price retraces into that FVG — color-coded green (protected swing swept), yellow (neutral), or red (failure swing swept). C3 marks the continuation candle that closes beyond C2's range in the original direction.

What do the confluence scores mean?

Each key level is scored by how many other levels cluster around it — session highs/lows, POC, value area, Asia range, HTF levels, round numbers, and active FVGs all contribute. Higher scores mean more structural overlap at that price. Gold lines are the strongest clusters, orange is moderate, gray is baseline.

What counts as a liquidity sweep?

A sweep occurs when price wicks beyond a confirmed swing high or low but closes back inside it. This suggests resting orders were targeted. Goldilocks uses a pivot-based swing detection method with configurable strength and lookback parameters.

How are FVGs removed from the chart?

An FVG is removed once price fills back to its midpoint (consequent encroachment). The gap's box and label are deleted automatically. You can also configure the maximum number of FVGs displayed and the minimum gap size.

What is the POC line?

The Point of Control is calculated using VWAP over a configurable lookback period. Value Area High and Low are derived from standard deviation bands. These approximate where the heaviest trading activity is concentrated.

What does the displacement coloring mean?

Candles whose body size exceeds an ATR multiple are flagged as displacement — aggressive institutional moves. Yellow indicates moderate displacement, orange is strong, and red is very strong. A diamond marker appears above the bar at 2x ATR or higher.

Why does the peak volatility shading appear?

A subtle gold background highlights the 9–11 AM ET window, which historically sees the highest volatility in gold futures. This is off by default and can be toggled in the display settings.

What is the opening range?

The high and low of the first 5, 15, or 30 minutes of the New York session (configurable). This range often defines the directional bias for the session. Breakouts above or below it are closely watched.

Does Goldilocks repaint?

Session levels, Asia range, and HTF levels are based on confirmed prior-period data and do not change. FVGs are plotted on confirmed three-bar patterns. Confluence scores update on the last bar as new levels come into range — this is by design.

Can I turn individual features off?

Yes. Every major feature — session levels, Asia range, FVGs, displacement, sweeps, opening range, volume profile, HTF levels, confluence, Fibonacci, C1/C2/C3 setups, volatility shading, and the info table — has its own toggle in the indicator settings.

How do I get access?

Goldilocks is available for a one-time payment which includes lifetime access and all future updates. After purchase, access is granted to your TradingView account within 24 hours.

Is Goldilocks affiliated with TradingView?

No. Goldilocks is an independent tool built for the TradingView platform. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by TradingView, Inc.
